If you have found my blog is probably because we share the same passion and dream: working online & travel the world. So either you are looking to start a blog or to become a freelancer, going from a side-hustle to a full-time business can be hard sometimes. And that’s the reason of this article, to show you that it doesn’t need to be a struggle for you.
Since the COVID-19 crisis hit us, we all entered to the home office vibe, and it has never been that easy to create an online business.
Do you have a passion that you want to monetise?
Do you want more freedom and flexibility?
Do you have skills that you could share with the world?
Then this article is for you! I will share 4 easy steps to implement to go from a side-hustle to a full-time online business!
1- Find your Skills and your Passion
Everything comes from your passion. Believe me. If you are not passionate, either it’s not going to work or you will give up at some point.
Simply because it’s hard to start online, you need to be strong mentally and if you are not passionate, you will give up at the first difficulty you meet.
I know it because it happened to me.
I first started as a web designer, I just did it because I liked it, it was cool, I liked the creative part of it but as it wasn’t a passion, I dropped. Well I didn’t completely dropped, I still do it but less because I have a bigger passion for travel and self development. Though, I have the skills to build a website from scratch, so the blog was the best alternative for me!
So to start immediately “right”, define your PASSION and your SKILLS.
Your skills is what you can be paid for and your passion is what’s gonna keep you motivated all along.
Though, even if you have a different background, as I have 💁🏻♀️, it is not impossible to start a side hustle. That’s all the contrary. In this case, focus on your passion: what is it?

2- Start your Blog or your Website.
If you don’t have any experience, or if you have a different background than corporate, like me, the blog can be the best business for you.
Blogging allows you to share about your passion, whatever it is! You can even share about your life experience, something you have been through and that allowed you to transform yourself. Blogging is wide, and the topics are limitless.
The amazing thing about having a blog is that is completely compatible with a 9-5 job. It can be implemented easily as a side-hustle. Again, your passion will keep you focus and motivated to grow your blog.

If you are more into freelancing and want to share your skills out there, the next step after defining what you want to offer, is to create your website. The so-called “virtual storefront“. A lot of people underestimate the power of a website but as a web designer I need to remind your that this is VERY important to showcase your experience, your expertise, your past projects etc…

What you absolutely need in your website:
- Your services page: where you explain your working process, what you do, for who you do it and how you can solve your customer’s problems.
- Your portfolio: where you show everything you have done, the client love. This part is important because it shows your universe, your vibes and it will attract the right clients for you.

3- Get on Social
Ok, now that you have either created your blog or your website, you are ready to show yourself, your expertise to the world! And what’s better than social media to do it?
Social medias are GREAT tool to create a strong community, to show your true self, to showcase your portfolio, to talk about your passion!
You have plenty of choices there and I recommend to focus on 1 platform at the beginning, to avoid to burn out and to spread yourself too much! Also, select a social media that is relevant to your audience. Once you found it, be consistent and create a good strategy.
Little disclaimer here, when you start a blog, a social media account, it can be pretty hard to grow, to be seen and it doesn’t happen over night. In this case, consistency is key. Bringing content everyday will help you to get the visibility you are looking for.
Also, try to be authentic and to show your true self: it’s definitely gonna help to create a connection with your audience.
Another social presence is Facebook groups. There is usually a ton of people cheering on others and that could really help you to start your audience!
4- Use Online Tools to Organize Yourself
I want to say that this step is mandatory if you want to be consistent and very organize. Organization is super important when you are a solopreneur: I did this mistake, I was not organize and I realized that I messed up everything not doing a proper plan.
Btw, maybe you are more a paper person (I don’t blame you I am too 😋) but having an agenda cannot help you for everything.
For example, I use Notion to gather all my content ideas for my blog and for social media, to actually write the captions, the articles. Notion is known to be our second brain 😅 because you literally empty your head on it. I love it!
I also use Tailwind to post automatically on Pinterest: it’s a game changer!
Plus, there is Google Calendar (which is free) to organize yourself, your projects with your clients.
5- Fixe your GOALS
You know what’s funny? Is that everything I am telling you here, I’ve done the exact contrary when I started a few months ago. And they are the exact reasons why I dropped everything, so please follow the advices, I promise you it will help you!
Fixing your goals right at the beginning will keep you FOCUS on the right thing. If you don’t have a goal, you can’t organize yourself because you know really know what’s the end, what’s the purpose.
Be very specific.
- How much do you want to get per month before quiting your job?
- how much do you want to get from your services?
- how much do you want to get with affiliate marketing?
- how much do you want to get with your digital products?
Those steps are easy to implement if you have a 9-5 job. Your organization will be a game changer if you want to go from side-hustle to full time business.
Creating and having a blog can easily being started even when you have a job because you don’t need to post everyday.
